These materials were developed for the Undergraduate School by the Course Development unit of the Office of Instructional Services and Support (OISS), University of Maryland University College (UMUC).
John F. Beyers, PhD, Professor and Academic Director, Mathematics and Statistics, the Undergraduate School, was the peer reviewer and curriculum specialist for these support materials. He holds a BS in mathematics from Towson University, an MA in mathematics from American University (AU), and a PhD in mathematics education from AU. He was research coordinator for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics for two years and project director at the Johns Hopkins University's Center for Distance Education for five years. Dr. Beyers, who has written three books and 10 CD-ROMs focused on innovative approaches to learning mathematics, has taught at UMUC since 2003.
Charles W. Fletcher, PhD, author of these support materials, has a PhD in mathematics and works at Technology Service Corporation in Silver Spring, Maryland. He has consulted on a variety of projects, mainly for the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., but also in the private sector. He has been associated with UMUC for more than 25 years and was an early advocate of online instruction. Dr. Fletcher assisted UMUC in the development of our first online calculus course.
Sharon Biederman, interim associate provost, OISS, supervised the development and publication of these materials.

Barbara Frank, instructional design manager, provided instructional design review and served as project manager for these materials.
