Study habits in the area of criminal justice

This field of study will require a minimum of two hours, three days per week; the more time spent, the better.
Law enforcement and forensics are very popular and have countless numbers of websites, organizations, and associations to review.
Study of criminal justice and investigative forensics topics will require students to identify the difference between legitimate academic sources and editorial/opinion material. Also, there are many sites that are simply advertisements for criminal justice study programs and other educational institutions; students must also recognize these for what they are in order to succeed in their studies.
Academic resources should include practical investigation in the field—in other words, doing local research and making contact with or visiting a criminal justice agency near the student’s home.
Some local jurisdictions offer “citizen police academies” where the topics are tailored to explain basic department functions to the community they serve. Students can search for a recognized citizen police academy in their area at http://www.nationalcpaa.org/ on the national site, or check with their local police department or sheriff’s office to see if they offer this class.
