Overview

Social sciences courses provide an interdisciplinary perspective on the human experience. They require a great deal of scholarly reading, an appreciation of the importance of empirical data, a willingness to embrace new theories, and an ability to tackle highly controversial issues in a mature, sensitive manner. While the subject matter can be fascinating, the amount of time required for mastery can be overwhelming at times. There is no "quick fix," but a little grounding in study techniques, time management, and university support systems can help you derive the maximum benefit from your studies.

As an adult learner, you have many competing demands on your time. It can be difficult to organize the multitude of responsibilities facing you.
